Things to do in Beer, Devon
Beer is a picture postcard village steeped in history. Once home to smugglers and the Queen's Lace Makers it is now a quiet haven for those lucky enough to discover it. And once discovered, Beer is the sort of place that people fall in love with and to which they return again and again.
Picnic with a view.
The heart of the village is the beach, a natural sun trap bordered by magnificent white chalk cliffs. The beach is the perfect place for doing as little or as much as you like. Why not relax in a deck chair or hire a beach hut and watch the fishermen land their catch? Or indulge in a Devon Cream Tea served at one of the three beach cafés? If you prefer activity there are fantastic rock pools to explore, the swimming is safe, you can hire a self-drive motor boat or take a skippered trip. If you catch some mackerel, we can cook them for your breakfast!.
The village itself is based around the quaint main street which has remained largely unchanged over time and is home to a range of interesting shops, pubs and restaurants.
Take a walk along some stunning cliff top paths.
Wherever you explore around Beer you will be surrounded by idyllic scenery. The dramatic coast (part of the Jurassic World Heritage Coastline) is bordered by peaceful, ancient woodland. It is no wonder that it is officially an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. As you can imagine, the walking is fantastic.
